Replica Balenciaga Bag Dimensions: What to Check
Balenciaga lists width, height, and depth in centimeters and inches on its own product pages. A replica that is 2 cm off on width looks wrong next to a real bag, because hardware, stitching, and the shape stay the same while the frame grows. Use the real numbers as a checklist before you buy.
Two notes before the numbers. Leather is soft, so a City measures about 1 cm wider when it is full. Sources also differ on where they measure, at the base seam or at the widest point. Ask the seller which points they used.
Reference measurements by model
These figures come from brand listings and resale listings. Treat each one as a range, not a fixed rule.
- Classic City: about 38 cm wide, 24 cm tall, 13 cm deep. Handle drop about 9 cm. Detachable strap about 105 cm end to end.
- Le City Small: about 25 cm wide, 16 cm tall, 8 cm deep.
- Le City Medium: about 32 cm wide, 20 cm tall, 10 cm deep.
- Le Cagole Small: about 25 cm wide, 16 cm tall, 10 cm deep.
- Hourglass Small: about 23 cm wide, 15 cm tall, 10 cm deep.
- Hourglass XS: about 18 cm wide, 12 cm tall, 8 cm deep.
- Neo Classic City Small: about 24 cm wide, 17 cm tall, 9 cm deep.
Several of these lines run in three or four sizes. A seller who posts one measurement set for every color is describing one size only. Ask which size the numbers belong to, and use the full model name, for example Le City Small rather than Le City.
How to measure a replica
- Set the bag on a flat table and let the leather relax for 10 minutes.
- Measure width across the base seam, not across the bulge.
- Measure height from the base seam to the top edge of the opening. Leave the handle out.
- Measure depth at the base gusset.
- Measure handle drop from the inside top of the handle to the top edge of the bag.
- Measure the strap end to end, including hardware.
- Weigh the bag on a kitchen scale in grams.
A tape photo against the base and against the handle shows more than any number typed in a listing.
Weight and hardware scale
Dimension errors and weight errors usually appear together. A City replica that measures 38 cm can still weigh far less than the real bag, which points to thin leather and light hardware. Studs on the City run about 9 mm across. Hardware on Hourglass and Le Cagole models is smaller than City hardware, and the scale changes with the size of the bag. Oversized hardware on a small bag is a common flaw.
Stitching and edge paint
Stitch count is a dimension check. The authentic pattern sets the number of stitches along each 10 cm seam. Count stitches along the top edge and at the handle base, then compare with a photo of the real bag. Edge paint on an authentic Balenciaga is thin, about 1 mm, and follows the seam line. Edge paint near 2 mm to 3 mm shows on some replicas, and it thickens the outline of the bag.

- Handle drop and strap length in centimeters.
- Weight in grams.
- Model and size name in full.
- A photo with a measuring tape at the base and at the handle.
If a seller will not send a tape photo, treat every listed number as approximate.
