Counterfeit Gucci bags have no standard dimensions. Each factory copies from photos, a single sample, or a 3D scan, so width, height, and depth change from batch to batch. The number to compare against is the size Gucci lists for that model on its product page. Most replicas land 0.5 to 2 cm off the listed size. Strap drop varies more than the body.
How to measure a bag
- Empty the bag and lay it flat. Do not stuff it.
- Measure width across the front panel at the widest point, seam to seam.
- Measure height from the bottom edge to the top edge. Leave out the handle.
- Measure depth at the base, from the front side panel to the back side panel.
- Measure strap drop from the top of the strap to the top edge of the bag.
- Note if the listed height includes the flap or the hardware.
Use centimeters. Gucci lists both units, and millimeters matter on mini models.
Listed sizes for common models
Gucci posts dimensions on each product page. Sizes change by season and by hardware. Two examples:
- Ophidia GG small shoulder bag: listed at about 26 x 18 x 9 cm, or 10.2 x 7.1 x 3.5 in.
- Gucci Diana mini tote: listed at about 20 x 16 x 10 cm, or 7.9 x 6.3 x 3.9 in.
Check the current listing before you compare. A bag from an older season may sit under the same model name at a different size. This guide does not cover every model, because Gucci adds and drops sizes each season.
Why a replica misses the listed size
- Panels are cut by hand. Two batches of one model can differ by 1 cm.
- Leather thickness changes the finished width after stitching.
- Sellers measure with paper or air pillows inside the bag.
- Camera angle shifts the shape in photos more than a tape measure shows.
- Hardware weight adds 30 to 80 g. Plated metal weighs less than solid brass.
Tolerance ranges seen in listings
- Width: plus or minus 1 cm
- Height: plus or minus 1 cm
- Depth: plus or minus 0.5 cm
- Strap drop: plus or minus 2 cm
- Weight: 10 to 15 percent below the authentic figure
A 1 cm gap keeps the silhouette. A 3 cm gap changes the shape, and the flap stops aligning with the body.
What to ask a seller
- Flat measurements in cm for width, height, and depth
- Strap drop at the shortest and longest setting
- Weight on a scale
- A photo of the bag next to a ruler or cutting mat
Size chart red flags
- One size listed for every model
- Inches rounded to whole numbers
- No depth given
- The same strap drop for a mini and a large bag
- The word standard in place of a number
