Short answer
Men's Givenchy bags retail from about $1,200 to $3,500 at Givenchy boutiques and authorized stockists. A men's Antigona, G-Tote, or Voyou listed at $150 to $450 is counterfeit. Givenchy is owned by LVMH and does not sell through discount channels, wholesale lots, or factory outlets. Listings that use those terms are counterfeit offers.
Price and channel check
Compare the asking price to the boutique price. A gap of 70 percent or more points to a counterfeit.
- Givenchy men's Antigona: about $2,290 to $2,690
- Givenchy G-Tote: about $1,650 to $2,100
- Givenchy Voyou: about $2,400 to $2,900
- Counterfeit listings: $60 to $450
Check the seller. Authorized channels are Givenchy boutiques, the Givenchy site, and named department stores. Marketplace sellers with three photos, a stock image, and no serial number are not authorized.
Authentication points
Stitching
Givenchy leather goods use 8 to 10 stitches per inch with even spacing and matched thread. Counterfeit bags show 5 to 7 stitches per inch, wavy lines, and loose thread ends at the zipper.
Hardware
Givenchy uses solid brass with palladium or aged gold plating. Zippers come from Lampo or Riri on most models. Counterfeit hardware is light, flakes at the corners, and uses unbranded zipper pulls.
Logo and font
The Givenchy wordmark is a serif typeface with a flat-topped G. The 4G emblem is a square grid of four interlocking G shapes with equal stroke weight. Counterfeit versions use thin strokes, uneven gaps, or add a registered mark on exterior hardware. Givenchy does not place a registered mark on outside hardware.
Interior tag
Authentic men's Givenchy bags carry a leather tag stamped GIVENCHY, the model name, and MADE IN ITALY or MADE IN SPAIN. A serial number sits on a second tag or on the reverse. Counterfeit tags use heat-stamped plastic and list a country the brand does not use for that line.
Packaging
Givenchy ships in a grey cotton dust bag with the wordmark and a white box with grey trim. A plain poly bag, a generic box, or a replica hangtag indicates a counterfeit. Real bags also include a care card and a receipt from the selling boutique.
Legal risk in the United States
Trafficking in counterfeit goods is a federal crime under 18 U.S.C. section 2320. A first offense carries up to 10 years in prison and a $2 million fine for an individual. Civil claims under the Lanham Act allow statutory damages up to $2,000,000 per counterfeit mark when the use is willful. U.S. Customs and Border Protection can seize and destroy a shipment and issue a notice to the buyer.
If you bought one
- Stop the payment. File a dispute with the card issuer or PayPal inside the window, which is 60 days for most cards.
- Report the seller to the Federal Trade Commission fraud reporting service and to Customs and Border Protection.
- Report the listing to the marketplace.
- Send the bag to Givenchy's anti-counterfeiting contact if the brand asks for it.
Resale is a separate issue. Selling a counterfeit bag is trafficking under the same statute.
